Hair Bun Tutorial
Here is the long awaited hair bun tutorial. I first featured this look here and got a lot of request asking for a tutorial. So here it is!
Step 1: Style as Usual
For this look I kept my hair straight, but it would also work well with textured/curly hair.
Step 2: Create a High Ponytail
The height of your pony is up to you, for this look I prefer to have it sit high on the head.
Step 3: Wrap Hair Around the Base
Wrap your hair around the base of the ponytail until no loose ends are left, forming your bun. Keep your hair on the looser side to ensure the bun is full.
Step 4: Secure & Pin
Pin it with bobby pins to hold in place, and you’re done.

Thanks Syah!
Awww Asa! You look so pretty! Great pics!
Thanks Dominique! I appreciate the kind words. You’re so sweet.
As are you, my dear!
Ummmm you are the cutest. Your cuteness is seriously out of control in these pics.
I feel like my hair may be too layered for this to work, but I also think your hair is shorter than mine, so maybe it would work. I’ll give it a try! <3
Aww, thanks Mil! You are always so kind, and encouraging. We need more people like you in the world.
Definitely give it a try, I have a lot of layers too. I was so glad when my hair grew out so I could style it this way.
I will try it! I’ve had trouble mastering the voluminous bun, so I have high hopes for this version 🙂
Let me know how it turns out.
What a great tutorial! I would have thought for sure you would need some sort of filler so this is impressive! I would love to see more of your tutorials 🙂
Aww, thanks Cami! Your comment really means a lot. I appreciate. I hope to do more tutorials in the future.

PS. I love your new layout of your blog! It’s simple yet so chic! 😉
Thanks Vivian. Your comment means the world to me. For the longest time I couldn’t wear my hair this way because it was too short, so I can relate. I would love to see a hair tutorial from you. I am always looking for new ideas.
Thanks so much! The blog update was such a pain. So glad you like it.
Haha you’re welcome! I love the bun look on you! It’s so cute! Haha that’s right! We can inspire each other, hope I can do a hair tutorial soon hehe 🙂 Haha I think it was worth the effort! Your layout looks absolutely great! Btw, are u using WordPress.org now? Wai and I are also considering moving our blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, but it seems so difficult! >_<
Thanks Vivian, I’m kinda self conscious about wearing it up. I’m not crazy about my side profile. I look forward to seeing a hair tutorial from you soon. I’ll keep my eyes out for it.
Oh thanks so much! It was worth it but a lot of work. There are still things I need to correct.
Yep, I’m on WordPress.org. There’s a lot of resources out there to help. Good luck if you make the move. There are also people out there who will do the switch for you.
Hi Asa! Thanks for getting back to me 🙂 Yes, I agree! You definitely should wear this more often! 😉 Haha thank you babe! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend 🙂

First of all I want to say,you are so adorable. The tutorial is great. As you know i have locks.I am going to try to make a bun.I see many ladies with natural hair with buns.I always wondered how they did it.The bun is so popular and it will give me a.different look. I will let you know how it turns out.You look fab with a bun. 😉
Aww, thanks mom! You’re the best. I think you’re pretty cute too. I would love to see you rock a bun.
So cute and so simple — exactly how it should be!
Thanks so much Sarah! I appreciate.
Looks so simple! My problem is getting my hair up that high in the first place. And then dealing with all the frizzes in the back and the front. It doesn’t always look as sleek and pretty as yours. But yours does look beautiful, especially with that lovely smile. I’m going to give it another try! Otherwise, corkscrew pins it is!

Hey Yasmin. Thanks for the kind words. I kinda prefer a messy bun. I’m sure whatever you come up with will be lovely. There is no need to be perfect, that’s the beauty of a bun. Good luck, hope this way works for you.
