A couple weeks ago my sister-in-law got married in Girdwood, Alaska. My husband and I were there for 5 days and I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid. It was our first time visiting Alaska and it was absolutely stunning!
The wedding was held at the Raven Glacier Lodge and the ceremony was outside in the most beautiful setting imaginable. The bridesmaids wore gray dresses with faux fur stoles (shown). They were such a hit that we decided to wear them to brunch the next day.
The Raven Glacier Lodge use to be a ski academy, but Cathy the owner saw its potential and renovated the space turning it into a lodge/venue. Cathy is very hospitable and kind, and her cooking is to die for! Over a three day span, I happily enjoyed several meals (rehearsal dinner, wedding dinner, and wedding brunch). My sister-in-law (the bride) caught an 80 pound halibut that was served at the wedding. Next to the dish was a photo of the catch. It was pretty cute.
During the week we ventured out to Seward. We visited the Alaska Sea Life Center (my favorite was the harbor seals), then went for a hike at Exit Glacier and a stroll on the Two Lakes Trail. We ended the night at Chinooks with a lovely dinner and view of the Seward harbor.

The location was absolutely magical, I’m glad we were able to spend several days there.
Sounds like a fun trip and a unique wedding! How was the weather up there? Much colder than Seattle in October?
