How to Make a Winter Handbag Work for Spring

April 20, 2016

Now that Spring has officially arrived, it's time to move those winter clothes to the back of the closet. I picked up this calf hair purse (winter handbag), and want it to work for Spring. Now that Spring has officially arrived, it’s time to move those winter clothes to the back of the closet. I picked up this leather calf hair purse from Club Monaco on a great off-season sale. I wanted to be able to put it to use before it was too late. Here are some tips to make even the most winter handbag work for Spring.

How to Make a Winter Handbag Work for Spring

Dark distressed denim

AG jeans are my absolute favorite denim. The fit is perfect for me and the leg opening makes them great for cuffing. I recommend the dark wash over the light. The distressing can give it a warm weather feel.

Flowy Top

The light weight material of your top will minimize the off season bag, and give you a fashion-forward look that is perfectly transitional.

Bright Lips

I know I say this often, but a bright lip will do you wonders. It will also brighten up your smile and give you an upbeat appearance.

Sandals or an open toe shoe

Either one of these options will keep you looking fresh. I was hesitant to go with a nude sandal since I didn’t have the color represented anywhere else, but I think it worked out.

Accents pieces

Since the color of the purse is black, I went with black accents (bracelet, ring, and necklace) to pull in the color of the purse and balance out the look.

Have you been able to get an extra season out of a piece you love?

Interesting I dont really put bags into seasons….I think once a bag has predominant leather detailing, you’re good to go come rain, sleet or sun….One thing I do to take pieces into different seasons, is with my open toed shoes, I wear socks with them in A/W ( :

I don’t normally, but since this one has calf hair I feel like it’s more of a winter purse. I’ve seen you style your open toed shoes with sock. You wear that trend well.
