I recently attended the Goodwill Design Challenge. Luckily for me my good friend Kirsty (blogger & jewelry designer) was also there. Here is a collaboration that we did earlier this year featuring Lucia K. Jewelry (Kirsty’s line).
The Design Challenge is a showcase for local fashion design students to create upcycled looks while competing for prizes. The theme was “take root and bloom”. In the past, this event was part of the Glitter Gala Fashion Show. This is the first time that it has been a standalone event. The top ranking designers will be showing their looks and competing for the “Audience Choice” award this Saturday, October 15th at the Glitter Gala. All of the proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the Goodwill’s Hign School Completion programs, helping people grow into their futures.
Tickets are still available if you’re interested in attending. Hurry, though they are expecting a sold out crowd of 650 community and business leaders. Festivities include a dinner, a raffle and silent auction, and Glitter Fashion Show.

You’ll also want to save the date for the infamous Glitter Sale! It’s the annual event where you can shop the best stuff that’s been collected throughout the year (eveningwear, shoes, purses, jewelry, and accessories). They also have a designer and vintage section. The Glitter sale will go from Saturday, November 5 to Sunday, November 6th. Proceeds from this event will benefit free job training and education programs.
I have never attended the Glitter Sale and am planning to go. Be sure to get there early, they are expecting hundreds in attendance. I’ve also heard that some people camp out the night before. Doors open at 9 am but most get in line by 7 am. For more information about this event, check out the frequently asked questions.
This is way too cool! Love it!
