If you’re like me, you might be wondering to yourself whether printed pants are still in; I think they might be out, but love them regardless! I know that they aren’t for everyone, but for those who love them, don’t give up on them just yet! I still believe you can breathe some life back into this trend.
I tend to associate printed pants with summer, but depending on the color, you can find ways to wear them into the fall. The pair I have on is definitely more for warmer months, but if you add a few fall-like items like closed-toe shoes and a darker colored top, you might be able to get away with wearing them for another month depending on your climate.
I wore these pants to death this summer. They’re so comfortable and fit just right! Plus, the pattern is a bit bolder than anything I’ve previously owned but still feminine. To transition these printed pants from fall to summer I used these tips.

Easily Transition Your Favorite Printed Pants to Fall
- Choose darker colors for your top or a chunky knit. Since it was still warm when I shot this look, I went with a lightweight, flowy blouse. The olive green is a great transitional color for fall and tones down the vibrancy of the pants. These pants would also look great with a chambray top or chunky knit sweater. Think dark colors and textures to keep your look fall appropriate.
- Closed-toe shoe or boot. I absolutely love a metallic shoe and these ones are beyond fabulous! I’m seriously contemplating getting another color because they’re the most comfortable flats I’ve ever owned. In my opinion, penny loafers can be worn both in the summer and colder months, but to make this look more fall-like, I would probably go for a neutral-colored bootie. My fav!
- Accessories. I know minimal is in and big jewelry is out, but I still can’t resist a statement necklace, especially one that looks vintage! How cute is that bee?! Bigger jewelry makes me think of fall, but if jewelry is not your thing, you could also go for an oversized bag or crossbody in a fall color.
- Lipstick: A woman’s lipstick can tell you a lot about the season or occasion. Here I went with a red rather than a pink like I would have done a few months ago. Changing up your lipstick, eyeshadow, and nail color can signal to folks the changing of the season and channel your fall-like look. I think that a deep berry or burgundy-colored lipstick would also look great paired with these pants!
