If you live in a similar climate, you may need tips to help you patiently transition your wardrobe from winter to spring!
Tip #1 – Layers. I never leave my house without an additional layer, whether an oversized cardigan, pullover sweater, or open sweater vest. The key to layering is to make sure whatever you choose can be taken off in case you get too warm. If you work in an office like myself, the temperature can vary. It’s always a good idea to have an additional piece that you can throw on.
Tip #2 – Adorn yourself in pastels and light-weight fabrics. Instead of opting for black or grey, throw on a light weight-sweater and rock one of springs latest trends — pastels! (Think cream, pink, and pale blue.) Who says you can’t dress warm and still look seasonally appropriate! Check out these cute enamel bracelets and this hair barrette.
Tip #3 – Mix and match your spring items with your winter pieces. Wear a floral dress with over the knee boots or your favorite spring skirt with a chunky sweater. This is a great way to extend the life of your cold weather items by incorporating a bit of what’s to come.
Tip #4 – Pack up your cold-weather items and make room for warm-weather pieces. Depending on the amount of space you have and how you organize your off-season items, this step can be variable. Fortunately, my closet is large enough to accommodate both.
Tip #5 – Add a scarf. You can choose something colorful or printed, but the idea is to add an element of spring while staying warm. Have a silk scarf that you’ve been loving? Tie it around your neck or the handle of your purse. You can use it as a belt, tie it in your hair, or wrap delicately around your wrist for a pop of color!
Tip #6 – Wear open-toe shoes or mules. Now, this is not for the faint of heart as I’m still wearing wool socks and boots, but if your climate is a bit warmer, then you might be able to change out your winter footwear for an open-toed bootie or mule.
Tip #7 – Change out your handbag. Pack up your winter bags and swap them out for lighter options. This tote is a great option for spring and all year round. There are also a handful of cute straw options like this one.
Tip #9 – Change up your lipstick and nail color. This is an easy and inexpensive way to give a nod to spring without changing your clothes. Simply changing up your lipstick and wearing something bright or nude can give you the vibes that spring is just around the corner!
