Fall is by far my favorite season! I feel like it’s the only time my true style shines through. My second favorite season is spring because I can wear my warm-weather clothes with fewer layers. Since fall is top of mind (and timely), I thought it would be beneficial to share my top 2019 fall trends. If you’re lucky, you might already own some of these items, as they’re less trendy and more classic which I love!
2019 Fall Trends
Leopard outfits, shoes, and accessories
First things first, if you’re not wearing leopard then I suggest you run out and purchase something leopard print ASAP! Leopard has made a full resurgence this year and can be worn from head-to-toe! However, I don’t suggest that you do that.
I am in love with my leopard cardigan, blouse, top, and booties — I can’t get enough! Leopard never goes out of style and can act as a great neutral. Oh and if you love hair accessories, check out this leopard headband. I’ve been wearing mine weekly!
It’s all about texture — snakeskin and crocodile shoes and bags
Crocodile and snakeskin accessories are other classic prints that have come full circle. I’m obsessed with my crocodile loafers. They’re timeless and chic, not to mention comfortable. I have the worst time with shoes and these loafers are wonderful! I also want to pick up this crocodile half-moon bag by Cuyana. While I love the white, the black might be more practical. I have a pair of pointed-toe snakeskin flats that I can’t wait to wear. They’re cute! I’m going to walk around the house with them first to make sure they don’t hurt my feet. Here is a similar option. This snakeskin purse is also super cute.
Cropped straight leg jean
The straign leg jean is back with a twist! I have seen numerous cropped versions and can’t get enough. Cropped denim is a great way to show off your booties — bonus points if they’re leopard, snakeskin, or solid white. These styles are on trend this season, and I was lucky to snag these. They’re comfortable and worth the price tag. I feel trendy and chic!
Satin, midi, and pleated skirts
Another trend that kicked off this past summer — and has continued into the colder months — is the satin skirt. I first saw this trend via Instagram and Pinterest in a leopard print. Now that summer is over, I’ve seen it in solid colors, too. J.Crew offers several colors and features them with oversized sweaters.
Another popular skirt style is the midi skirt. A “midi” skirt falls just past the knee. I recently purchased this midi (in the leopard print), and I plan to wear with the sweater in today’s post. In addition to more simplistic midi skirts, I’ve also found several pleated styles that I’m eager to try. They’re a fun, popular item and can be worn with a variety tops, sweaters, and jackets.
Colorful knits
I’m typically more of a neutral girl but am loving all the colorful knits this season. I was heavily influenced after seeing my friends rock their colorful cold-weather items at the pumpkin patch this fall. The most popular item I’ve seen so far is the multicolored, striped sweater. I have included some cute options below.
Cowboy, floppy, and panama hat
In high school, I loved wearing hats. As I entered my 30s, I haven’t continued. However, I would love to pick up a neutral, floppy hat. The Panama hat and cowboy hat are also fun styles. Not sure what to pair with your hat? Check out Pinterest for ideas and inspiration, and then find one or two in a neutral color to get you started.
Girly pearly
Pearls are also back! They can be dressed up or down, and I prefer the latter. I wear this necklace on the regular. Looking for more high-quality options? J.Crew has no shortage on pearl jewelry but you can also look to places like Bauble Bar and Target for inexpensive options. Truthfully, anywhere that sells accessories will have something adorned in pearls.
Hair Accessories
Hair accessories are all the rage right now! I know this trend isn’t for everyone. If headbands aren’t your style, there are a lot of barrettes and clips you can try. If you want to be more subtle, wear your hair half up or do a classic low ponytail and add a barrette just slightly above your hair tie. One benefit of this trend is that it can be budget friendly. There are ample retailers — e.g., Amazon, Forever 21, Kohl’s — that have cute hair accessories, in addition to J.Crew and Nordstrom.
