On Friday a Stella & Dot representative came to my work and sold all her pieces for 50% off. I went a little crazy and made a handful of purchases. I am a jewelry-aholic! My husband always says that I have more jewelry than clothes. In all honesty, I have really pared my collection down and avoid the jewelry section when shopping in stores and online. My rule of thumb is to only purchase pieces that are truly unique.

I purchased the Sutton necklace during my spree. I have been eyeing it for a while but couldn’t stomach the hefty price tag. At half off, no problem! This necklace can be worn five ways! I love the multifunctional element of this necklace and it’s so pretty, especially the sparkle strand. Plus, the quality is just so darn good!

12 Fit Tips

November 7, 2014

Workout

Last week I wrote about my year end goals – work out a minimum of 4 days a week and get 7.5 hours of sleep per night. This week I wanted to share my fitness tips.

  1. Use a Fitbit to hold yourself accountable and make workouts easy to track. I have the Flex Fitbit and I wear it day and night. You can download the app and use the online dashboard to set goals and see your progress. I’m obsessed and never take mine off!
  2. Don’t rely solely on a scale; take your measurement to get a more accurate picture of your progress.
  3. Have the proper gear e.g., good shoes and workout attire (enough for a full week).
  4. Don’t allow more than two days in between workout, it’s easier to stay motivated if you’re consistent. Stick to a schedule, and pencil it in.
  5. Plan ahead and don’t workout hungry. Have a light snack an hour or two before to keep your energy levels up and avoid crashing. My go-to snack is an apple with string cheese.
  6. Create several playlists to keep you moving.
  7. Join a gym or create a home gym. You want to make exercise as convenient as possible. When we rented a house I purchased an elliptical and canceled my gym membership to better suite my needs.
  8. Get a workout buddy; this is another way to stay accountable.
  9. Take a class to keep workouts interesting and your body challenged.
  10. Try some of the many fitness apps available. I’m currently using the 5K Runner app and love it.
  11. Workout or go for a walk during your lunch break, I keep an extra pair of shoes in my desk drawer.
  12. Keep gym clothes in your bag so you can get straight to the gym. When I come home I’m exhausted and the last thing I want to do is work out. I don’t let myself sit down – I change into my workout clothes and head out the door.

What workout tips help you stay motivated?

My Makeup Routine

November 5, 2014

Beauty Routine

From left to right: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup | Smashbox High Definition Concealer | Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup | Estee Lauder Pure Color Powder Blush | Too Face Better Than Sex Mascara | Vincent Longo Lash Definer Eyelash Comb #2 | M.A.C Lustreglass in Simmon

My makeup routine is pretty basic but I wanted to share what I use and why.

  1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup – I love this foundation and have worn it for years. It provides the best full coverage and gives my skin a flawless appearance.
  2. Smashbox High Definition Concealer– this is the first concealer I’ve purchased. I use it under my eyes for days when I need an extra boost. It minimizes dark circles, puffiness and brightens skin.
  3. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup – to set my foundation I use this press powder with a matte finish. Amazing!
  4. Estee Lauder Pure Color Powder Blush – this blush stays on all day. I wear the Exotic Pink.
  5. Too Face Better Than Sex Mascara – I recently wrote about this item. While I like this mascara, it can be messy. I don’t think it’s necessary to do the third step and apply mascara behind the lash bed. I do two coats and my lashes look big and full.
  6. Vincent Longo Lash Definer Eyelash Comb #2 – after I apply two coats of mascara I use this tool to comb and separate my lashes. The metal teeth help remove mascara buildup or clumps.
  7. M.A.C Lustreglass in Simmon– This may have been my first lip color purchase. It is my all-time favorite. I’ve worn this shade since high school. The color looks good for all occasions, stays on all day, and the formula is not sticky. I rock this gloss with a raisin or burgundy colored lip pencil.

Camo Pants

November 3, 2014

DSC_0142 DSC_0134 DSC_0130Denim Jacket: Gap |Sweater: J.Crew Factory | Denim: Gap (similar) | Shoes: Dr. Scholl’s | Necklace: Sabine (similar) | Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Bracelet : Nadri (similar) | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack (similar) | Ring: Gorjana | Lip gloss: Giorgio Armani color 519| Lipliner: NARS color Rosebud

I have a handful of novelty sweaters (mainly prints) but not enough solids.  I recently purchased this sweater from J.Crew Factory during one of their weekly promotions. The waffle texture makes this sweater interesting.  I might pick up another one in a different color. These pants would also look great with a chambray shirt.

Orange (Cardigan) is the New Black

October 29, 2014

DSC_0267DSC_0272 DSC_0277Cardigan: J.Crew (now on sale)| Blouse: Loft | Cords: Loft | Boots: Dankso (similar)| Watch: Marc by Marc (similar) | Necklace: Stella & Dot | Ring: Gorjana | Lipstick: M.A.C color Sinnamon

I love the color of this cardigan, especially paired with the leopard print blouse! I kept the rest of the look simple with my favorite skinny cords from the Loft and my comfortable Dankso boots. I’m not a huge fan of these shoes but they keep my feet happy.
