When you take your Fit Quiz you will be provided with a Fitcode, but then what?! As previously mentioned you can shop your recommendations in the Fitcode Denim Boutique and make your purchase through their brand partners.

Your second option is to take the Fit Quiz on one of their partner’s site such as JAG and then look for the Fitcode badge as you browse through their denim selection.

Fitcode recommended the Catherine Boyfriend by聽Kut from the Kloth for my Fitcode. Kut from the Kloth can also be found at Nordstrom who is also a Fitcode partner. This wash is perfect and I love the slight distressing in the upper thigh and pocket. They are definitely more on the slim side from a traditional boyfriend jean so I would recommend going up a size if you want a more slouchy fit. For size reference, I am wearing a size 6 and would recommend wearing an 8 for a true boyfriend fit. What’s great about these jeans is that the inseam is 27″ and lands just above the ankle when unrolled, perfect for those petite girls!

Thank you Fitcode for this collaboration and gifting me the denim and photos. You guys are the best! 馃槝 Be sure to check out my Q&A over on their blog.

Petite-Friendly Retailers For Short Girls

July 11, 2017

When you're petite, it can be hard to find the right clothes for your frame. Even if you're not short, that doesn't mean that you're not petite. You can be tall, curvy, or even plus-sized and still be considered petite in certain areas. When you're petite, it can be hard to find the right clothes for your frame. When you’re petite, it can be hard to find the right clothes for your frame. Even if you’re not short, that doesn’t mean that you’re not petite. You can be tall, curvy, or even plus-sized and still be considered petite in certain areas. I am just shy of 5’4 and have a larger upper body (broad shoulders, large chest, and belly). My torso is short and I have trouble finding tops that aren’t overly long. I have the same problem with dresses and skirts because I have a short waist. My lower half is narrow, and I often go for pants that are ankle length, cropped, or skinny (worn cuffed) to avoid hemming.

Petite Misconceptions

This adorable top by Pleione is a Petite large. I tried a regular size large and it was too billowy and long. As mentioned before, you don’t have to be small all over to be considered petite. Being petite can be chalked up to a few things: length of limbs, shoulder width, bust size, and length of waist.

I styled this cute top with my favorite skinny jeans, sandals, and adorable cat purse (available in several colors). The bracelets and earrings are perfect for everyday since they are so easy to wear.

Tip for Shopping Petite

Shopping petite can be tricky depending on the retailer. When shopping at Loft I usually wear a size 4 or 6 in their pants. If I go for the petite option, I go up a size. For example, if the regular size 6 fits, I would be a size 8 p. More often than not, the petite option is small all over not just in length so that鈥檚 why it helps to size up. A lot of petite clothing is like this. I am narrow through the hips but that doesn’t mean that my calves and thighs are petite.

If you’re small all over, check out the the kids section. Depending on where you shop, you can sometimes get the same brands sold in the women鈥檚 department, but for a fraction of the price.聽Usually, sizes 12-16 will fit quite well; I used to do this all the time when I was a smaller size. The kid’s section is also a great alternative if your feet are small.

Outfit Remix: 4 Tips for Remixing Your Outfits

June 27, 2017

Flutter sleeve blouse, anorak jacket (military jacket), and distressed jeans. Flutter sleeve blouse, anorak jacket (military jacket), and distressed jeans. Flutter sleeve blouse, anorak jacket (military jacket), and distressed jeans. When I started this blog, I had an unspoken goal to utilize what I own and not spend a lot of money and I have done surprisingly well. I used to be notorious for growing tired of a piece and getting rid of it without a thought. When I go back through my archives, I love seeing that I still own most of the same clothes (investment pieces) from three years ago!

I realized I love to remix my closet and started to focus more on working with less. I’d take a small wardrobe with beautiful pieces over a large one of odds and ends.

Flutter sleeve blouse, anorak jacket (military jacket), and distressed jeans. Take this printed flutter sleeve blouse. The first time I wore it, I went for a business casual look. This time, it’s more off-duty with a pair of distressed jeans and my favorite anorak jacket. I also changed up the hair, lipstick, and accessories.

4 Tips for Remixing Your Outfits

  1. Swap out your lip color. You would be amazed how this simple change can maximize your look. If you’re not a lipstick wearer, try a sheer balm with a hint of color. Another awesome lipstick that is great for every day is this one by Bobbi Brown.
  2. Change your hair. Now, you can be as creative as you like with this, but I would err on side of simplicity. If you always wear your hair in a low ponytail, try wearing it up. Even adding a side or middle part can make a huge difference.
  3. Choose a different bottom. This is a great way to scale your wardrobe and is awesome when traveling. If you have a colored bottom, you can pair it with a printed or solid top and swap out the accessories and voila! You have an entirely new look. I do this all the time and it really does stretch my wardrobe.
  4. Change your shoes and accessories. This is a no brainer and makes getting dressed fun. Adding jewelry, a scarf, or bag can make a huge difference. If hats are more your thing, pick up a couple neutral options so you can mix and match with your wardrobe.

What tips do you have for remixing your outfits? Let me know in the comments!

Trending: The Slit Sleeve

June 13, 2017

Spring/Summer 2017 is all about warm weather and a statement sleeve like the bell sleeve, cold shoulder, off the shoulder, the slit sleeve - there really is a sleeve for every style preference. Spring/Summer 2017 is all about warm weather and a statement sleeve like the bell sleeve, cold shoulder, off the shoulder, the slit sleeve – there really is a sleeve for every style preference. I challenge you to incorporate one or more of these styles into your warm weather rotation!

I recently picked up this slit sleeve blouse. It’s a great choice for anyone who doesn’t like to show a lot of skin. With its barely-there slit, you can be trendy but not over the top. What鈥檚 also great about this top is the flowy material and ruffle hem. On paper, this top kinda sounds like a hot mess but is actually well executed.

Last spring, I was introduced to the Who What Wear Collection collaboration with Target. This collab is ongoing and is filled with on-trend pieces at affordable prices (see my other WWW outfits). Oh, and how cute is this Ted Baker bag?! It was a birthday gift to myself. I wanted to represent now that I am a cat momma of two.

How to wear the Slit Sleeve?

The slit sleeve can work for most, if not all occasions. For an off-duty look, wear with jeans and your most comfortable ballet flats. For your 9-5, find a silk or flowy blouse to wear tucked in a skirt or pant. Once evening comes, slip into a cocktail dress with slit sleeves and meet up with your girlfriends for happy hour.

Will you be wearing a statement sleeve this season? Which one is your favorite?

5 Items You Need For Spring!

March 15, 2017

Military blazer with ruffle blouse and denim.Military blazer with ruffle blouse and denim.Military blazer with ruffle blouse and denim.According to Phil, winter ain’t gone quite yet! But that should not stop you from聽planning for Spring. To get started, I recommend looking at your favorite retailers and fashion experts (bloggers, celebs, and magazines) to determine the trends (bell sleeves, cropped pants, and off the shoulder blouses). While I am all for trends, I prefer the classics. This is why I am recommending five items you need for Spring. The best part is you might already own some of these items. If聽not, they are inexpensive enough to pick up pretty much anywhere.

Military blazer with ruffle blouse and denim.Military blazer with ruffle blouse and denim.Five Items You Need For Spring!

  1. Something Blush. I am a girly-girl through and through and I can’t get enough blush in my wardrobe. It’s just so feminine and romantic. It’s also a good transitional color that works now and later. I picked up this gorgeous blush tote and these shoes聽. I am still on the lookout for a faux leather jacket and some other blush items.
  2. A Military-inspired jacket aka “the anorak or utility coat”. Such a classic and always on trend. You can opt for the more traditional聽anorak聽style or a cute shrunken聽blazer like the one in this post. What I like about this classic is you can dress it up or down (wear with pants, shorts, dress and skirts) and it’s also another great transitional聽piece. See how I styled this trend here, here, and here.
  3. White Denim. This trend is here to stay and becoming the new normal. Do yourself a favor and pick up several pairs, I would opt for a skinny, distressed and a cropped pair. You can also wear this look year round.
  4. Ruffles, on ruffles on, ruffles! Ruffles are in full bloom this season as they should be. They are one of my favorites. If your style is girly, stock up on this trend and incorporate it in your tops, blouses, jacket, and skirts. See my ruffle outfits here, here,聽here聽and here.
  5. Seasonally appropriate makeup. Around this time last year, I started rocking a bright lip. My go to was聽Purity Persimmon and聽Smokin Hot Pink. Have fun with your lip color and be sure to update your nail color in brighter shades
