My 6 Favorite Clean Beauty Products

March 11, 2020

I just hit my one year anniversary of joining BeautyCounter as an independent consultant and using their products. If you’re not familiar with BeautyCounter, they’re a clean beauty and skincare brand with a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone. Read my clean beauty story.

What makes them unique? Beautycounter is working at the legislative level to eliminate 1,800 questionable ingredients from the beauty industry. The Founder and CEO Gregg Renfrew has testified in a congressional hearing on cosmetic reform to further move the needle and is continuing to work with members of Congress to make this change.

Why I’m Choosing Clean Beauty + How to Get Started

August 20, 2019

In my research, I have found there can be a direct correlation between how our body functions and the products we use on our skin. Since the beauty industry is essentially unregulated, brands can produce products that are filled with toxic ingredients, carcinogens, and endocrine disruptors. I am often tired and experience elevated stress levels, and in addition, I have a hormone imbalance. By eliminating toxic products—and switching over to Beautycounter —I hope to improve my overall health. Hooray for clean beauty!

What I’m Wearing Dress: Banana Republic (via thredUp) | Jacket: Embellish c/o | Headband: Lace & Pearls Jewelry | Necklace: Lace & Pearls Jewelry | Rings: Rebekah J. Designs (here & here) | Sandals: Old | Purse: Rebecca Minkoff (old) | Lipstick: Beauty Counter (color red)

The long-awaited post is finally here! I polled my Instagram audience, and there was a resounding vote for a clean beauty post. I was a bit surprised and am excited to share both my newfound journey and the importance of choosing clean beauty and skincare products.

Lancome Beauty Haul: 3 Must-Have Products

July 4, 2017

I recently had the opportunity to try three new Lancome products. All of them were top notch and deserve a proper review. I'll definitely be repurchasing them in the future.I recently had the opportunity to try three new Lancome products. All of them were top notch and deserve a proper review. Lancome Beauty Haul

Lancome Official Visionnaire Crescendo Peel. For this one, I completed the full 28-day program. My pores appeared smaller and my skin looked smoother and brighter. If you have sensitive skin I would avoid this product though, as Phase 2 does leave a burning sensation.

I recently had the opportunity to try three new Lancome products. All of them were top notch and deserve a proper review. I'll definitely be repurchasing them in the future.Out of the two phases, I prefer Phase 1 which reduces pores, improve skin texture and radiance. The first 14 days I could really tell a difference, but I did break out a bit. Phase 2 reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. I have dark spots under my chin and was hoping to reduce those, but I’m not sure Phase 2 was as effective in this area. I should have taken a before and after photo, but I have enough product to try again so I might give it another shot.

Lancome Bienfait SPF 50 Sunscreen. This is the first SPF 50 I’ve ever tried. It shields the skin from UVA and UVB rays that may contribute to skin damage and premature aging. It’s also recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, which I appreciated. I love the oil-free, lightweight formula and how it didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. It’s also formulated for all skin types, even sensitive. As an added bonus, no SPF smell! I honestly can’t say enough good things about this product.

I'll definitely be repurchasing them in the future.Lancome Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick. The sponge-like applicator really helps with creating a precise application. I love the formula, it literally feels like a second skin! 🙌 Another plus, no smudging or bleeding. However, it’s a bit on the dry side and could use a gloss. It’s definitely long-wearing though, which I absolutely love. I can’t wait to try the other colors.

Pixi Beauty Product Review + Giveaway

May 30, 2017

Pixi Beauty is an affordable, all-natural beauty brand. Not only are the products a great buy, but the signature packaging is hard to resist.Have you tried Pixi Beauty products yet? Pixi is an affordable, all-natural beauty brand that is available at Target and Pixibeauty.com. Not only are the products a great buy, but the signature light green and rose gold packaging is hard to resist.

I’m a bit behind in my monthly reviews and have acquired quite a collection of Pixi products. Some I’ve tried previously and others I haven’t. Unfortunately a lot of the products are oil-based or hydrating and not great for my oily skin, so what’s a girl to do but share the wealth and do a giveaway! It’s going to be a good one so keep reading.

Before we get to the fun, I wanted to share a bit about one of the packages I received. Hello, beauty enthusiast! It’s almost too pretty to use.

Pixi Beauty is an affordable, all-natural beauty brand. Not only are the products a great buy, but the signature packaging is hard to resist. Here’s what I got:

  • Get The Look ItsEyeTime Eyeshadow Palette
  • Get The Look ItsLipTime Lip Colour Palette
  • Strobe & Sculpt (Highlight & Contour Palette)
  • Strobe & Bronze (Glow & Bronze Palette)
  • Strobe & Sculpt Brush
  • Eye Accents Precision Mascara & Clear Brow Gel
  • Glow-y Powder Highlighter in London Lustre and Santorini Sunset
  • Glow-y Powder Cheek Powder in Rome Rose
  • Double cleanse Solid Cleansing Oil and Cleaning Cream

Since there are so many items in this package, I am only going to review the Get The Look ItsEyeTime Eyeshadow and Get The Look ItsLipTime Lip Colour palette. These two products were created in partnership with ItsJudyTime. If you’re curious about Pixi, check out my other posts: Capture Your Natural Beauty With Pixi by Petra, The No Makeup Look with Pixi by Petra, and Bedtime Ritual with Pixi Beauty.

Pixi Beauty is an affordable, all-natural beauty brand. Not only are the products a great buy, but the signature packaging is hard to resist.

Get The Look ItsEyeTime Eyeshadow. This neutral eye palette is a good mix of mattes and shimmers. You can easily apply it with your fingers, but some people do prefer a brush. Before I did my eyes I applied my favorite lid primer. I swear by this primer, it keeps my eyeshadow on all day. However, within 6 hours the color starting lifting. I have oily skin and don’t have this problem with my other shadows. This is is a major strike against this palette. The finished look, however, was pretty but not better than other shadows I own. I will continue playing with this set and look to YouTube for inspiration and how-tos.

Get The Look ItsLipTime Lip Colour Palette. The color palette itself is beautiful, great neutrals for every day. But for some reason, most of the shades were too light for my skin tone. I think this palette would work best on someone with fair skin. The last row in the palette does work for darker skin, but I still would not recommend this product. I also prefer a tube instead of using my fingers/brush to apply my lip stick.

Rejuvenate Your Skin With IQ Natural Skincare

September 30, 2016

IQ Natural is an organic skincare company based out of Portland, Oregon. They sell natural skincare and mineral makeup products.

I love supporting local small businesses and was recently introduced to IQ Natural. IQ Natural is an organic skincare company based out of Portland, Oregon. They sell natural skincare and mineral makeup products. The company has been around for 14 years and is ran by a team of 5. IQ Natural products use the purest ingredients (no chemical or fillers), and are never tested on animals. Most of the products are made in-house.

IQ Natural Clarifying Daily Care Set

I received the Clarifying Daily Care Set. This set includes a cleanser, toner, and lotion. The trio is formulated for acne and blemished skin, clearing blackheads and preventing breakouts. The cleaner is gentle on the skin and won’t dry it out. The toner is soothing and balances out the natural oils in your skin. The lotion is hydrating but does leave a shiny finish. I prefer matte.

I’ve been using these products for under a week and I can already tell the difference. My skin is clear and visibly rejuvenated. The only thing I didn’t like is the smell, which is chemical-like (to my nose). This is probably due to the natural ingredients.

IQ Natural Super Facial

I also received the Super Facial. This mask is like nothing I’ve used before. It simultaneously tightens, brightens, tones, and exfoliates. Ingredients include mud and seaweed. I could do without the smell, but the end results were glowy, fresh-faced skin. This mask might be too much for someone with sensitive skin. It left mine feeling a bit tingly.

IQ Natural Makeup

I really want to try their makeup next. So many gorgeous options. I am a big fan of finishing powders and I love Tarte’s Amazonian powder and Pixi’s Quick Fix powder. IQ Natural has a Setting Veil that I want to try. I might need to do a blog post comparing all three. I’m also adding this mascara and these lip glosses to my wish list.
